SCHOOL HISTORY AND TRADITIONS
From 1669 to 1708, during the reign of Hetman Ivan Mazepa, BATURYN was the capital of the Ukrainian Cossack state, the Hetmanate. Ivan Mazepa established a genuine princely court in BATURYN, where his collection of weapons and books impressed contemporaries, including visitors from Western Europe.
Today it is a village of some four thousand inhabitants---situated on the Stein River, not far from the city of Chemihiv in the Ukraine.
