Ms. Robinson has been working with all of the students to prepare them for the annual Christmas Concert. The concert will be held on Wednesday, December 17 with two shows. The first will be at 5:45pm and the second will be at 7:15pm. All students, Grade 1-6, will perform in both shows and parents will receive tickets for one of the shows. The morning Kindergarten students will perform in the first show and the afternoon Kindergarten students will perform in the second show. Seating capacity is limited so you will need tickets at the doors; a red letter was sent home with students for acquiring free tickets. Turkey Drive for the Edmonton Food Bank
The Citizenship Leaders in Room 3 & 13 are organizing a food drive and donation collection to help provide food for the hungry in Edmonton. Our school goal is to raise $250 in order to buy 10 turkeys for families in need during the holiday season. Our other goal is to fill two boxes with non-perishable food donations. If you would like to support this community project please send donations of food or money during the week of December 8-12. Thank you for helping us help others.
Greeting Card Delivery
Each December, Baturyn School undertakes a school-wide service project where our students show leadership in the community be creating and distributing seasonal greeting cards to homes in the neighborhood. Students make cards in their art classes, and each class goes on a walking field trip to distribute the hand-made cards. Look in your mailbox for a special card to spread joy during the holiday season.
Our Baturyn student Citizenship Leaders ran a campaign during the last week of October called Socktober. The purpose of this campaign was to synergize as a school community and collect new and gently used socks to donate to Edmontonians in need. The goal of collecting 500 pairs of socks was successfully met during the week. Because of this effort many homeless people in Edmonton will have warm feet this winter.

Meet the Staff and Welcome Back Carnival - September 11, 2014
Parents and guardians are invited to attend the Meet the Staff event and Welcome Back Carnival with their children on Thursday, September 11 at 6:00 pm. We will start in the gym with staff introductions and then proceed to the classrooms. Teachers will be giving the carnival tickets to the students when they visit the classrooms. The carnival runs 6:30pm to 8:00 pm. Thank you School Council for organizing the carnival.
Back to School in 2014-2015
The first day of school in the fall is Tuesday, September 2, 2014. As in previous years, our Grade 1 – 6 students are organized into mixed groups for the first day of school. Students are involved in a variety of activities to learn about the school and to meet other students and the staff. Students will find out their homeroom classes on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. It is a good idea for students to wait until Wednesday, September 3 to bring their school supplies. School supplies ordered through the school will be distributed on Wednesday, September 3.

A school newsletter is available the last Friday of each month. We also encourage families to utilize Schoolzone, a secure on-line tool desined to provide Baturyn parents and students with information about school events, activities and much more.
