SCHOOL HISTORY AND TRADITIONS

From 1669 to 1708, during the reign of Hetman Ivan Mazepa, BATURYN was the capital of the Ukrainian Cossack state, the Hetmanate.  Ivan Mazepa established a genuine princely court in BATURYN, where his collection of weapons and books impressed contemporaries, including visitors from Western Europe.

Today it is a village of some four thousand inhabitants---situated on the Stein River, not far from the city of Chemihiv in the Ukraine.

On January 5, 1981, all students came to Baturyn.  Our school now houses approximately 330 students for Kindergarten to Year 6.
